CLARKE COUNTY SOILS

SERVICES IN CLARKE COUNTY, VIRGINIA

The majority of the soils in Clarke County are considered to be located in “Karst” topography. This means landscape features that may include sinkholes, sinking streams, caves, and springs. Therefore, additional soil testing is typically required to identify any potential areas of concern that we identify during our initial survey. For example, electrical resistivity testing is required when a landowner is proposing to install a drainfield (septic system) on the property. By identifying areas where a drainfield can and cannot be established, the landowner will better be able to determine areas that are better or worse for home development.

For these reasons, it is important to consider the geology of each individual parcel of land when performing soil tests, or deciding upon which areas are best for future development. In addition to Soil Evaluations, our professional staff will be able to offer advice in troubleshooting problems, recommendations for repairs, and assist with the required Alternative Onsite Sewage System (AOSS) annual inspection.
